Molding / Casting Technician
We're growing, and looking for a team player who can focus the molding, casting, and sculpture aspects of our workflow. This includes detail design, fabrication, and significant out-of-the-box problem-solving. Primarily, we create amazing interactive museum exhibits. Additionally, we put our creative skills to work in art fabrication, product prototyping and development, and some short-run manufacturing. We all wear multiple hats, including customer-facing, project management, design and fabrication responsibilities.
We're a fun team, with a cool and well-equipped shop. We enjoy making awesome things. We optimize for a digital workflow, but don't allow ourselves to become paralyzed by it - we still love making things by hand!
Some nominal amount of travel to our New England-based clients may be required.
Role Details
We're looking for a creative individual that has a strong knowledge of mold making and casting. Our ideal candidate has experience with a variety of materials including, but not limited to: resin, paints, fiberglass, epoxies, clay, wood, and metals. Work independently or alongside the design team, other fab artists, and fabricators to help us bring custom creations & museum exhibits to life.
Role-Specific Requirements
These are considered ideal requirements for this role:
Strong working knowledge of fiberglass, resin, and epoxies.
Background in mold making and/or casting.
Working knowledge of a variety of finishing techniques.
Working knowledge of a variety of fasteners and hardware.
Ability to develop and use shop drawings.
Experience Bonus Points
Some level of cabinet-making
Metal fabrication (machining, welding, finishing)
3D modeling experience (we use Fusion 360)
Shop fabrication skills
Misc. woodwork/furniture design

Ability to work on ladders/scaffolding, and/or unconventional positions as required by exhibit work.
Dependability
Able to work ~40 hour work week, with flexibility for occasional overtime as needed
Valid MA driver’s license and reliable transportation

Salary: $40,000-$60,000/year *depending on experience
