General Exhibit Fabricator
We are looking for an entry-level General Exhibit Fabricator to join our diverse and flexible team. Primarily, we create amazing interactive museum exhibits. Additionally, we put our creative skills to work in art fabrication, product prototyping and development, and some short-run manufacturing. We all wear multiple hats, including customer-facing, project management, design and fabrication responsibilities.
We're a fun team, with a cool and well-equipped shop. We enjoy making awesome things. We optimize for a digital workflow, but don't allow ourselves to become paralyzed by it - we still love making things by hand!
Some nominal amount of travel to our New England-based clients may be required.
Role Details
Ideally, you have design and/or fabrication experience, with a heavy focus on interactive exhibits, or maybe product design. You're able to approach problem-solving from multiple perspectives, including client needs, visitor/user needs, and our own design/fabrication/maintenance needs.
On the design front, some candidates may have more detail design experience, and some may have more concept-level or exhibit planning experience. You'd be in a position of listening to client goals, and working with the rest of the 42DF team to develop creative solutions. You'd then contribute to detail design internally, and collaborating with the fabrication team to bring it to life.
